The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission met a delegation of IMF Mission


Today the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission held a meeting with a delegation of IMF mission for Bulgaria. The Regulator has been represented by EWRC’s members Mrs. Svetla Todorova and Mrs. Evgenia Haritonova. The meeting was part of the regular autumn IMF mission in the country in the period 4 - 9 November 2015, during which the team of the international financial institution discussed with representatives of the Bulgarian authorities the current economic developments and prospects of the country.

The main topics of discussion were issues related to the activities of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission as an independent regulator whose activity is based on the strict application of legal rules, objective market factors and on protection of the public interest. IMF representatives were acquainted with the structure and organization of work of the Commission, the impact of legislative changes on EWRC decisions in electricity pricing and heat as well as preparation for the upcoming energy market liberalization in the country and the launch of the independent Bulgarian energy exchange.
